First meeting of the year and why did it have to be so cold
after those lovely warm days leading up to the weekend.
New crew members Nick and Emma survived just!
I haven’t
told you about Nick yet, he’s joined us to take Martins
place on starter as he’s got a new job and can only make
some days at some meetings. We will miss him, but when he is
available he will be helping Dave with the tuning. Nick did
really well considering he had never been drag racing before,
so treat
him gentle if you are asking question at the track. Emma did
well keeping us supplied with food and hot drink and is getting
to be dab hand at parachute packing.
Anyway back to the important stuff, first pass
was a very respectable 7.26 (normally I’m lousy on
the first pass of the year) and the second shocked everybody
(well me anyway)
a personal
best ET of 6.673. So we were all very happy bunnies going to
the Nags Head Pub Saturday night to warm up.
Sunday was a bit warmer but we were plagued with tire shake
on both passes and had to shut of early.
Race day arrived cloudy with sunny spells and less wind. Only
fore cars for round one Dave Wilson against Doug Ripley and Rob
Turner and I in the other pairing. I had the left lane which
may have been fortunate as I had a bit of a driving job, on the
launch the car picked up the front, hooked right and changed
lanes, Rob was long but we live to fight another day.
