After our success at Shakespeare County we had to work night and
day to repair the damage to both the axle and chassis. With only
a week between meetings Andy Robinson Racecars performed a miracle
in both getting new parts from Mark Williams in the States and
building a new axle in a couple of days. Many thanks to all his
guys. We actually got home Wednesday evening with the finished
axle, which we fitted that night. That left only the harness
and panels to fit Thursday morning before loading up and going
to the track.
Euro Finals
On the first day of qualifying nearly every one was suffering
from tire
shake and too much traction, yes if the track is too sticky you
have to
change the car’s set up even more. Any way after two days
of qualifying
we were in eighth place, but this meant that we were up against
No 1
Ulf Leanders who had managed to run a new record of 5.66.
First round of eliminations and we were first pair out, after
a strong
burnout the transmission had a malfunction and I was unable get
the car
into reverse, so I had to side line it so my opponent could still
make his
pass. We were very disappointed after qualifying and then not being
able
to contest the first round of eliminations
The next meeting is at the end of September and is the last round
of the
MSA British Championship, so we hope to do well there and will
then
know our final position in both the British and FIA Championships.
