National Finals – Santa Pod

The season has come to an end and it was all down to the last race at the last meeting. With Dave Wilson in the ACI dragster and us only ten points apart and twenty points up for grabs it was to be anyones race.

Saturday was warm and fine and our first qualifier was a very shaky 7.45secs followed up with a best ever time at the Pod of 6.405.

Sunday started with rain but it eventually dried up by lunchtime so our third qualifier was another very respectable 6.517 at 216.43mph.

Now down to the big one, both cars launched hard but then I heard/felt a horrible noise and backed out of it, the transmission had let go so I coasted through to take runner up.

As soon as we got back to the pits Dave (Grumpy) was straight round to celebrate, I think he was as pleased for me as I was for him.
