Summer
Nationals
After two events struggling with clutch and track we were at rock
bottom. Talks went on with Andy Robinson and AFT in American and
a new clutch setting was obtained. As this was just before the
meeting we had to do the actual changes at the track on Friday
evening after sorting out the pit (note to Santa Pod we need to
get in earlier than 5pm).
Anyway Dave, Martin and I sorted most of it out and finally retired
to bed about 11.30. Mark was unable to come as he had been taken
ill on Friday (luckily only a stomach bug) and the rest of the
crew turned up Saturday morning and we were ready for first qualifier.
As the clutch was completely different the Burnout was very strong
(need to calm that down a bit) I then jumped straight into full
stage and just managed to get some revs on before Rob was there
too. Then we were off, I got a red light, the car pulled slightly
to the centre but I corrected that and chased Rob down the track
not really thinking how fast it was, I went to bottom exit collect
my chutes up and waited for the crew, and boy were they hollering
I had just run a best ever of 6.61.
But
with every high there is a low, on returning to the pits we discovered
damage to one head and twisted drive shafts lenco to
back axle. The damage is repairable with the purchase of new parts
so all being well see you all at the next meeting.
